This slice is surprisingly delicious for such a simple recipe. You'll love it.
Kitchen tools needed:
Makes 12 pieces
Turn on stove to 180 c (Moderate)
Gather your tools and ingredients together.
Cream the softened butter and sugar together until there are no lumps of butter.
Add the egg and stir in, then add all the other ingredients together. Stir.
Grease the cake tin with a light coat of cooking spray. You can line it with some baking paper if you like. It is optional but helps to get the slice out later.
When the mixture is stirred it will be very thick and sticky. Place in the cake tin and spread out. You will need to use a wet metal spoon to do this, to stop the mix sticking to it.
Bake for 30 minutes. The top will be golden.
Take out of the oven and leave in the tin for 10 minutes.
Tip the slice out of the tin and place on a cooling rack until cool. Honestly, it is even better when warm though.
Slice into 12 pieces
Serve.
You can add 1/2 teaspoon of almond essence to give the slice a nuttier flavour if you like.
Can substitute the sultanas for chopped, dried dates.
